How to fix a burned carpet. You want the carpet fibers to stand up as straight as possible which will make it easier to target. Snip off the burnt top layer with a pair of scissors. Try to only cut the black or brown burnt part not the lower unaffected layer.

Apply a SMALL amount of hot glue to the carpet and add a about half of your pile to the glue and press it down with the handles of a larger pair of scissors.
Give it a minute to dry and lightly pull the excess carpet strands off. It will simultaneously get rid of the black burned dust and lift the surrounding fibers as well making the mark less visible. Use sandpaper to file down the scorched carpet.

If there is a large area of damaged carpet youll have to replace the burned area with a patch cut from a piece of scrap carpet. Begin by vacuuming any debris away so you can start with a clean work area. Use a utility knife to carefully cut out the section of carpet that has been burned.
Cut deep enough to cut through the carpet backing but try to avoid cutting the padding underneath. Next lay the removed piece on top of the scrap piece. Determine the direction the grain on the carpet scrap flows and use a marker to draw an arrow on the underside of the circle of carpet that points in that direction.
2 Place the circle of scrap. First you will need to cut out the burned carpet with a razor knife. Make sure you cut the burn out by cutting a perfect square use a cardboard template.
You will need to cut out the new patch of carpet using extra carpet or cut out a square in the closet. Apply some carpet cleaner to the burned area and scrub it around. We want to get the burned area clean so our repairs stick.
